We’re already a number of games into this summer’s World Cup tournament, and there has already been some impressive performances from teams and individual players. The most entertaining game at the tournament so far is the 3-3 draw between Spain and Portugal. In the build up to the tournament, both nations were considered amongst the favourites according to the betting odds, but not the outright favourites. Despite this, both teams put on an incredible display of football with some very impressive individual performance. However, the player which made all the headlines was Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo. The experienced winger managed to score a hat-trick which included a sensational free-kick in the 88th minute to secure a well-deserved point for his country in the opening group game. Although Ronaldo’s performance was sensational, we’ve become used to the experienced forward pulling out individual performances like this on a regular basis. The same goes for Argentina’s Lionel Messi. Both players are considered the best players of their generation, but they’ve been consistently brilliant for the entirety of their careers that a sensational performance is expected almost every game. Meanwhile, former World Cup champions France are also one of the favourites to win the trophy this summer, and there are some sites which odds very good France to win World Cup odds.
Heading into the tournament, there are a number of players you would expect to produce a fantastic performance at least once this summer. However, like most World Cup tournament, there will be a couple of players that will produce a performance that you would not normally expect. One of these players could be Hirving Lozano. The Mexican winger has already put in a very impressive display against Germany in the opening game of the group and scored the decisive goal against the world champions to secure a 1-0 win. Although he might not have too much space to exploit that he did against Germany, there is no doubt that his pace and trickery on the ball will cause problems to any defender he is facing off against. Other than the World Cup’s which they’ve hosted, Mexico have failed to make it any further than the Round of 16 throughout the history of the World Cup. However, their performance against Germany suggests they could make it further this tournament.
