Examining the Trend for Yellow Sunglasses This Season
When I think of yellow tinted sunglasses I tend to picture Johnny Depp in Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas, or Christian Bale’s tubby character from American Hustle. I certainly don’t think ‘on-trend’ look. It seems I might be in the minority however, as yellow tinted sunglasses appear to be a serious trend this season, making a major comeback in recent months.
In the last few weeks, we’ve spotted this trend on the likes of Slick Woods, Vogue Editor Kelly Connor and model Emma Oak, as well as Lily Donaldson sporting a pair of yellow tinted rimless shades at the Louis Vuitton Resort show in Brazil.
Of course, given the current obsession with the naughties and 70’s throughout the fashion world, perhaps we shouldn’t be too surprised with the resurgence of these colourful sunglasses. They’ve even been making catwalk appearances, from the 2017 Fall/Winter collections of Prada to the recent Loewe and Gucci shows.
I’m not quite sure if I’m ready to give up my classic Ray Ban aviators or swap my Oakley prescription sunglasses for a pair of yellow tinted, heart-shaped lenses, but if you’re feeling brave this season it might be time to dig out your 70’s shades.
